Good afternoon. Quite a week in Tech that started off with the market getting “Citrini’d” and ended up with the Anthropic/DoD spat and start of the Iran invasion.
We won’t comment much on the Iran invasion — we doubt Trump wants an extended conflict and in his best interests to come to some sort of resolution fairly quickly. However, the situation is obviously very fluid and tricky and easy to see how it can go on for a while, but what we do know is the longer it goes on, the worse it’s for him especially ahead of midterms. And Trump will look out for himself first.
On the Anthropic/DoD spat, seems like the “supply chain risk” designation will likely be decided in the slow-moving courts although this administration makes everything a big wild card and hard to handicap. Hegseth directed the Department of War to designate Anthropic a "supply chain risk" under 10 USC §3252, and then claimed that "no contractor, supplier, or partner that does business with the United States military may …
