AMD: Truist Upgrades to Buy, Hikes PT to $213 on Improving Hyperscaler Momentum
Not a ton of detail in the note…Recall Bluefin was out yesterday calling out thermal issues with MI355
Truist upgrades AMD to Buy and raises its price target to $213 (from $173) as industry contacts increasingly point to AMD gaining real traction with hyperscalers in DC/AI—not just serving as a “price check” to NVDA. Truist says the tone has shifted materially in recent weeks, with partners now working more closely with AMD on AI deployments at scale. They now assume AMD can capture a sustainable 10% share of the DC GPU market, helped by momentum behind MI355. While not expecting AMD to replicate NVDA’s dominance, Truist sees this as a structural shift worth re-rating. Updated CY27 EPS is $7.89, implying a 31x multiple on the new $213 target.
